Malta: Summer in October

Last summer.. err.. last October I did a trip to the archipelago of Malta.
Even though here in Portugal the weather is really great (it’s very sunny day today with about 21 degrees
), last summer I only had a few days to take advantage of the summer and almost didn’t went to the beach… and I need it! So, Malta was a great place to visit.
It was a great weather and other that the sea and beach, there are plenty of thing to do there. It was much more urban than I though… great cities, many many house and urban area.
There is a lot there, for a city break or cuture travel you have all the cities in the east, like the 3Cities and Valleta and st.Julians. For beach, well, it’s an island.. and on the north you have great sandy beach and on Comino (the middle island) you have the blue lagoon.. so beautiful! For night live, St.Julians is the place to go.. so many restaurants, bars and discos… the only problem.. well.. it’s a problem depending on your age and intentions.. it that with low costs from Bacelona and other cities, the place is just crowed with drunk kid that went there just for the weekend.
I was very lucky as I was there on Notte Bianca! This is a night when the city of Valleta opens it’s doors till very late (3 am) and you can visit lots of public and not so public places, like ministries, churches, museums, etc.. There is no better bathroom to use than the Health ministry private WC!!!
There are also a lot of street animation with music shows, art presentations, street theater (displaying historic moments of Malta), fireworks, drinking shops and a final grand pyrotechnic show at the end.
Buses, that are really old but cute (the streets that are really bad and I didn’t so even one highway) work till the end of the show, so you don’t have to pay a taxi.
Here are some of the best photos I took there. I just love some of them as they remind me of a great vacation!
