Electronica: 2007 Squash OST

Electronica and squash have a lot of things in common: the quick change of pace, beats, tennis squeeze on the floor, the sudden change of direction and, most of all, the major part of mathematics on all of it.

That’s why I see electronic music as a great sound track for Squash sport. On both, the mind set usually is a fast, sharp and very concentrated one. This is needed for a very quick and precise action.

Electronic is most of the time played by some software where someone did some programing in forehand. So the performance is mostly a cerebral process that already happened, but if it would really played lived, I’m sure it would be as tiring and exhausting as the small grass-wall room sport!

Clark – Ted
Clark album Body Riddle was one of the best hard electronic albums of 2007. Very sharp and vicious. This video is really amazing. Nature is five steps in front of us in design or any other visual art.

Junior Boys – In The Morning
So tender, this song have been on repeat for several months since I first head it. The video is rubbish.

Holy Fuck – Lovely Allen
This came out almost at the end of the year, but it was worth it. This song is really energetic and beautiful. The album is loud, fast and mostly good. Oh.. that band name. Could be even be a bit funnier..

They both play squash! (quite badly)

Burial – Archangel
Burrial is getting better and better. This all album as a really great atmosphere to it. For me, this music is the great highlight, but probably not the best one. I think in 35 years, this album will still have a futurist aura.

cristian vogel – Lovelights
This is another great electronic album. Very abstract, dense and innovative. I could find the video or mp3 for Lovelights so, here is the 1968 Holes video. It remind me some of the work in VIMMI group, combining music and computer visualization (mainly 3D, gesture recognition and shape’s creation). I think there still a lot of work to do until we can see any great stuff out of this match.

Modeselektor – The White Flash
This song features Thom York and like most of his other participations, I sound really good. This is the “wanna do disco/electronic music” dream that Thom is trying for so long. Not Aphex Twin and still melancholic, but that’s our Thom.

Hot Chip – Ready For The Floor
This is the first single for the Made In The Dark album that’s coming out soon. This song was originally written for Kelly Minogue, but se didn’t accept it. Maybe that was a good thing as Hot Chip made it sound great. The video is cool. A lot of Japanese tv influences and deviding between warm colorful colors and intellectual/rational cold visuals.
